Full-stack and data engineer. Based in Iowa and Minneapolis, working remotely.
I build data-heavy products end to end, from pipelines that have to be right to the interfaces people actually use.
- 10k+
- voice-agent support calls a month at Automatdo
- All US metros
- covered by the house price forecasts I build
- 10M+
- rows a day through ETL I built and maintained
- 100k+
- regulatory customer letters generated a month
Since 2015 I’ve built data systems that can’t be wrong. At Wells Fargo I designed and maintain the pipeline behind house price forecasts for every US metro, after years of remediation, ETL, and regulatory systems. Alongside that role I co-founded Automatdo and led engineering on a voice AI platform that handled more than 10,000 support calls a month. On my own time I build and open-source products like BuildWealth, a local-first finance app, and Uplandin, a browser game you can play right now.
I’m looking for full-stack product, backend, or data engineering work where I can own a problem from the data model to the interface.
Work
Most of what I’ve built for employers is proprietary. Each entry explains the problem, what I built, and the results, with interactive rebuilds where they help show how a system worked.

Independent products
Products I design and build end to end on my own time, around problems I want to understand deeply. Most are open source, and one you can play in your browser.
BuildWealthMy local-first personal finance app. It tracks the portfolio, models the next forty years with tax-aware Monte Carlo, and includes an AI copilot that reasons over real household data but can never change it on its own.Read the case study

openAuthorA local-first harness for AI-assisted novel writing, built on the ideas that make software engineering with AI trustworthy — version control, reviewable diffs, persistent context, and guardrails.Read the case study
Be BetterMy personal endurance coach. Snap a photo of any workout screen and it's logged, plan with an AI coach that runs on my ChatGPT subscription, and sync with Intervals.icu into one training log I own.Read the case study
